- Most under-rated relationship in a series. (Evangelion) Shinji and Misato. I don't mean this in a hot passion kind of way, I just mean that I love their relationship. They're the only characters who are allowed to connect with one another without all that psychological-mess that goes on between everyone else. And it's sweet!! When Shinji assures Misato that he'll be fine living on his own, she immediately drags him back to her place. It's just...really touching.
- Most OVER-rated relationship. (Eva again) Ha ha. ^_^ Shinji and Kaoru Nagisa. The boys of a million fanfics. I mean, come on. So Shinji has a crush on him, so what? They're cute together for most of one episode, and then Shinji kills him. NOT getting the heart-flutterings here.
- Character who should get laid RIGHT NOW! :) (X) Daisuke Saiki. mehehehehheh *evil grin* Boy simply needs a good rogering. I'm sure Kanoe or Fuuma'd be happy to oblige. XD
- Couple who it would be a crime if they don't get married. (D WJ's Dalemark books) *deep breath* MITT AND MAEWEN! They've got to! Doesn't matter if she's a hundred years ahead of his time! They've got to get back together somehow.

(I mean, the actual "where did the bath-plug go to, dear?" day-to-day living with them deal) .....oooooh, tricky one! *lol* Ok, (1) The Prisoner, from 'The Prisoner'. *g* What can I say, he's incredibly charismatic. It would be surreal. ^_^ (2) Kryten, the android from 'Red Dwarf'. He's orgasmic over house-hold chores, & he makes me laugh. A lot. XD (3) K.9. from 'Doctor Who', because I was madly in love with him when I was 12 years old. :P
- Top three female characters you'd marry. #^__^# Hee hee! Well now....(1) Sapphire from 'Sapphire and Steel'. She's gorgeous, and her eyes glow blue with this weird "wib wib" SFX noise. *HEARTS* (2) Hinoto from X - as I'm already hitched to her. *lol* I always have to pick the poor widdle vunerable (acting) ones. ^_~ I wanna pwotect her bad widdle self. (3) Usagi from 'Sailor Moon', the first anime charcter I really fell for. I think it was when she got whacked in the face with a tennis ball (or was it when she fell over & dropped her icecream?) - I just knew she was so the girl for me. XD

Erj-baby, not only is Alan Cummings playing Nightcrawler, he's also perfect at it. You have to see X 2~~!!!! I loved the line "one for every sin, so quite a few" and Nightcrawler was all humble & you just wanna glomp him & squeeze him! :D The teeth & fingernails were great too, oh ~ with the tail of course. *lol* (BTW, I did notice your groovy colour-changing links. More fun to watch & space out to than a lava-lamp ^_~)

And without further ado: The Tokyo Babylon Rave Thang ^___^.
Pop Art I love the way most of the TB colour pictures feature the lead characters doing “fashion model” poses in a succession of bizarre outfits. I love the primary colour scheme mixed with garish pinks, greens, oranges. I love how the image soundtracks are nearly 100% oddball off-kilter pop songs (“nobody beats me in the nightclub” has to be heard to be believed XD). All these things are constantly at odds with what you should expect – lots of black, sober clothing, dark backdrops, and X-Files type music.
Mirrors About the twins…sometimes I have trouble telling them apart.^^ The first time I saw Subby, I thought he was a girl (and I quote : “she has a really cool hat!!”). Watching the 2nd TB video, I thought little 9-year-old Subaru under the cherry blossoms was Hokuto. In the manga, when it cuts to a scene of H-chan acting loud & outrageous there’s always a split-second moment where I think “why is Subby…oh, it’s her…^^” Most of all (and I am by far not the first person to mention this) I like how the two of them are sides of the one personality (metaphorically speaking). I myself am toxically shy while at the same time very genki. Seishirou with his fist through Hokuto is symbolically killing Subaru – notice how she wears her brother’s clothes in that scene.
Anime I have observed the petition for a TB anime tv series with interest. Usually such fandom pressure has a negative effect, so I don’t think I’ll sign (it’s nice to see others still feel strongly about TB though ^_^). Ko had some great ideas regarding a tv show – no, the “I am the Sakurazukamori. Welcome to my maboroshi” bit isn’t going to surprise anyone, but it’s still such a pivotal moment that it should stay as the main climax. I mean, it’s just so marvellous to have Subaru’s broken heart symbolised by having his arm snapped & being beaten until he throws up blood. Heh heh :P I do like the idea of having the Rainbow Bridge “someone’s got a fist through their heart, but which one??” bit as an intro piece…because then it could end with “you never say the words I’m expecting to hear”, the song “Yuuzai” starts, the credits roll, and that’s it. If only TB had kept that as an ending – it’s so much more cruel and unusual. *grins*
S/S (replying to ali-chan) ^_~ Kiss Kiss is a great song. I remember the first time I heard it (thanks to OAV number one) I was like “oh, it’s Duran Duran under water! XD” and my roomie passed through the lounge commenting “oh. my .god ^^;;;;”…but after that it totally grew on me. The lyrics, the sound are all so delightfully weird. And I love the line “I wanna believe in your eyes/ so please don’t say love is blind” (for the longest time I misheard it as “I’m gonna be leaving your mind”^^). Of course TB’s the best manga series!!!! Hee =^.^= Like you point out, Hokuto knew the truth about Seishirou (“there’s the smell of blood that comes from your body”…..aaaaaaaaaaa, scarey!!), Subaru knew as well, but never let himself acknowledge it. Neither does he let himself acknowledge Sei’s interest in him as serious. Whether or not it’s because Subaru’s afraid of rejection or simply afraid of Seishirou is one of those devious CLAMPy things where you’re never quite sure and they never quite let on. ^_^ Ah, that marvellous climatic moment with Subaru’s admission to himself -- - only to be met with “why such a sad face? Betrayal happens in Tokyo all the time”. The worst possible thing to say! It’s so cold, & you can just hear Seishirou speaking in his usual amused-but-distant way. EEEE! claps At least, despite the disadvantages of TB crossing over into X, we get the bonus of seeing Hokuto’s death-scene properly for the first time. It was better than I could have imagined, and so great when she said “Sei-chan” right at the end. …and now I want to re-watch TB OAV #1 also!!! It really does have the right feel even if the story isn’t exactly ground-breaking. ^_____^
*ahem* Meanwhile, back at the ranch: I’m soooooo happy cos this place is jumping! It feels like “phew, I got my life back” (translation; Lika, Satsy, Keri and Ami-dono are back posting :D).

As Lika said, I’d like to know the link to your LJ and I LOVE LOVE LOVED Nightcrawler in X2. Alan Cummings was perfect (and looks good blue :D), very glompable. As Kim-imouto said, not enough people mentioned how adorable blue-boy was, & Sir Ian totally ROCKED as Magneto. The only things I can complain about that movie are (1) I had a Captain Picard Moment when Prof X was being picked up & carried. As in “that couldn’t happen to Captain Picard, he’s, he’s the Captain *sniffle*” -- and then I remembered XD. (2) No Gambit! Waaaaaaaaah! ;_; It’s not the same without him! And Beast! Waaah! Want Beast! He’s all fwuffy and bwue! L Name-checking Remy and Dr McCoy ain’t enough. (3) Rogue without Gambit is strange. Her and Bobby? No way! Grrr. Speaking of, I loved Nightcrawler’s accent and Rogue’s too – was listening poised with poison fangs in case Anna Paquin dropped a vowel, but she was faultless. (The way Rogue talks is so cool! I ate it up in the old TV animation). It’s so weird that Anna Paquin’s hot now…I still think of her as the little kid from “The Piano”. Eesh^^;; Oh! I just managed to pick up Wish #2 & 3 a few days ago! :D It’s such a sweet series. I’m surprised how good CLAMP are at doing warm & fuzzy (in a not maudlin way). Shoiichirou/Suuichirou/Whatsisface’s grandfather is neat; I think he’s my fave character so far. ^_^ Yes, it is autumn right now, hence the cold weather (sunny blue days with freezing nights). We do get a bit of the trees changing colour, but nothing really dramatic (it’s not cold enough to get those vivid reds & golds). Oh yeah! What I did while we were away! Well, I took Inuki-plushie with me to guard my Easter eggs *g*, we walked half-way up Mt Taranaki (Fuji-san’s stunt/body double apparently ^_~), I managed to avoid HP withdrawals by working my way through D WJ’s Dalemark quartet (sheer total brilliance - WHY WHY WHY did I not read it earlier? I’ve had those books on my shelf for ten years or more! <_<), we went to see some relatives, and had the best fish&chips on the planet. *smiles* I should point out that it’s my Dad who gave me the fan gene – it’s ALL HIS FAULT muahahaha. >;-D So he is fun to fan-geek with; it’s cool your Bob does that too! If you want to adopt Dad, I don’t mind, but I guess my mother might have something to say on the matter. XDDDD

Mwahahaha, break time officially starts NOW~! :D And in more exciting news, I sat on an easter egg today, just before work. So I was doing the staff issues & the mail run with caramel on my butt. XD XD XD Oh boy. Not a good look. So then one of my dear collegues grabs me while wielding a large pair of sissors and says "bend over". *lmao* This evening one of the others was trying to convince us that the easter bunny does exist, since we all got little (thankfully non-caramel) eggs in our work drawers.
Waaah, bunnies. Bunnies are scarey. *g*
So I'll be away over this holiday - in the wilds, no TV, no internet, cripes ^_~ - but I just wanted to add that I love you (and I love my new Inuki he's simply perfect!!!!!), I wanna see pictures of your Arwen (good going on getting the name :P), your plushie pics are all cra~azzzy XD, I miss you (but not too much since I'm obsessively stalking you *lol*), & I'm still waiting for a plushie of you (BTW, aiiiiiieyaaaaahhhhh it burns it burns *puts on sunglasses* XD).

I'm bitter and twisted at the moment 'cause I am missing out on this right now. Argh! *bangs head against wall* And I missed the Doctor Who convention today as well. Stupid family friend's wedding today (even though the food was great), stupid work tomorrow, stupid Treaty of Waitangi training on Monday! How could you be ALL DAY on ALL THREE days?! *hits them* I wanted to buy lots of goodies, I wanted to watch Chobits, Utena & the Escaflowne movie ;_;, and most of all I wanted to get a photo with Robert Picardo so that I could flaunt it shamelessly to all you guys *points into the middle distance of blogland* (me glomping the hologram doctor!!! *g* - not that y'all would be impressed or anything but it would've been amusing ^-^)...
...ok, enough of that.^^ There's still a chance I might get to Wellington for a day in September in order to see the second stage of the expo, maybe, maybe.
I was cheered up a bit on the drive home from the wedding when Dad & I had a chance to do some fangirling (??fanboying? Erm. Anyone know the term for cross-gender fan-ising? @_@). To sum up: -Dad wants to know how they're going to turn HP Goblet of Fire into a movie - it's a great book but there's SO much going on. -HP relationships (XD) - Ron & Hermione is a dead cert, Dad's betting that Harry has a chance with Cho Chang but Ammie thinks maybe Ginny is still in the running. -Unanimously: (1) maybe it's Hagrid who's going to die in the next book, in which case WAAAAAH!!!!!! :_: (2) Lois should have gone against her Mum and given Quinn-chibi "Hagrid" as one of his middle names like she wanted. (3) Robbie Coltrane is wonderful. (4) We can't wait to see the next HP movie & the final LotR. ^_____^ -The end of LotR (novels) is good because it ends where it began (in the Shire) - cyclic or whatever you call it. -Dad says that Gandalf's in the Silmarillian, in which case (a) I guess I'll have to plod through it then ^_^;;;; and (b) I've totally underestimated Gandalf just like the Hobbit folk. O.o Eeeeks! Maybe he's a deity or something? Sorry Gandalf! o.0;;; -HP is just like the original Star Wars (& LotR kind of sort of) cos it follows the "journey of the hero" (yay Joseph Campbell ^_^) and it has the magician/mentor figure ----> Gandalf, Dumbledore & Obi Wan Kenobi. That's why those type of stories are still phenominally popular - they're rooted in classic mythology that everyone responds to on a certain level. Originality is not the issue here. -At this point I mention that while Dumbledore acts like a barmy old codger, he's the only one Voldemort is afraid of i.e. he is definitely going to kick ass before the books are over. (Again: Gandalf also is seen as a nice old bloke in a battered hat at first & Obi Wan is just a dusty hermit -- you dont see their power until later).
After that it was just me drooling over Neil Gaiman & Diana Wynne Jones; however you don't want to hear about that you just want to see Miyazaki's version of 'Howl's Moving Castle' when it comes out next year don't you. ^_~ *turns on mind-control device*
