"Saving the world is endlessly important. But saving a butterfly, or a tree, or any single life is infinitely so."
Castle of Briars
What if the butterfly was supposed to flap its wings tommorow --
This layout features kazetsukai from CLAMP's X manga (the blustery one and the breezy one). The 'butterfly wings' theory is about cause & effect. All quotes are from Brad Schmidt's fanfic "Butterflies" featured in TSV #55 (Oct '98). And yes, I drew that pic^^;;;
Just while I remember, absolutely must highly recommend Cowboy Bebop to any of you who like sf. I randomly picked up a DVD in the comic shop, since Shi-chan had assured me it was a good series. ^_~* The first episode (I think #15? Told you this was random, & so typical of me to not start from the start) I was like "eh. Whatever. But the music is wonderful". The second episode I was swinging round in my seat going "eeeeeeeeee, this is the coolest show in the world!!!!!!!!!" First of all, the formula is that old sf stalwart of an odd-ball group thrown together by circumstance and winding their way around the galaxy in a customised spaceship. Second of all, the music is by Yoko Kanno. And it's ALL JAZZ~! If you captured my fondest dream of the last ten years, it would be to have a sf TV series, animated & with 100% nothing but jazz soundtrack. Most of all, it's worth it for Ed (eeeks, I just love her) and the opening sequence ...which is almost too cool for words but here goes - the song Tank and the images are like an anime version of a 60's spy show, complete with silhouttes & moving text. *hand to heart in breathless admiration*
Thankyou for the music ^___^ It's kinda eerie but beautiful. Plus, good luck with the *secret thing* - can't wait to see!!!!!!! :D Hopefully I'll get to talk to you on AIM sometime anyway, it's just that my times are very erratic & there's the whole time difference thing (haven't been able to figure it out yet^^;).
At least Y/I makes D/H seem not-wrong. (I said "almost" ^_~...hey, it's not like I care that D/H is wrong heheheh)
BOOYAH! :D I had to look at a photo of a nearly-naked MAN in order to draw that pic for you. Hope you're happy. ;p

Forgot the date this morning. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, smegheads. #^_______^# Through work I got two chocolates and three emails (one with teddies, two with roses) from people I don't know. LOL I got myself 'The Oxford Companion to Fairy Tales' edited by Jack Zipes. So Mr Zipes is now officially my sex-kitten this year. >:3 (what does he look like anyway, Rachellllllllllllllllll?) Last year I seem to remember certain excitement from the discovery of a D/H lemon writen by Shanti Fader. Oh well. I guess this time I'll have to content myself with the Y/I lemon which Maria-chan had absoloutely nothing to do with. ^_~ Next year it's Windcest or bust~!! And Kims-imouto has the best Valentine's layout. Yes yes. *nods*

This is hillarious, except for I'm freaking out over dear little Wesley getting together with Lilah. @_@~! YIKES! (NZ TV is only up to the bit where Angel fires Wes, Gunn & Cordy. ^_^ I love the karaoke bar XD) The thread at DoS continues to grow...Karen, Aoki, Subby and Dai...I'd do more but I daren't add Hinoto for fear of being strangled. LOL Kanoe...probably secretly DID do all the cast (as in, BOOMshakalaklak ^_~), so that one's out as well. Never mind, there's always Keiichi. :)
BTW, that's so terrible of Jeannie to make the entire bar sing you happy birthday! *g* she needs a suitable punishment. ^_~*
Wow, Maria really kicks butt!! :D That's totally cool. It's why I admire characters like Arashi who can be the equal of any guy...because I'm small & fluffy & innocuous (people at work have been know to refer to me as "little one" ^^;;;). If I did try to kick butt I'd look like Yoda (and trip over LOL). Oh! Yes, I like Robin McKinley's books. Haven't read that many, though, cos she's not quite weird enough for me hehehheh. 'Beauty' was wonderful (just love B&B variations).
Erj-baby I have no idea who that piccie is of. *grin* Looks good anyway. (I'm starting to enjoy the pink, make it stop, make it stop~! ;p) It's actually an insanely cute layout. Usually I'm never on AIM when you are (& you've been on my list for months now) but I will make an extra effort for the sake of Yoko Kanno mp3 goodness. *sparkles* Of course now I'm going to have to buy the whole soundtrack for the Y.K. factor (ditto Cowboy Beebop).
You, Timbo-chan, probably are one of the few people who isn't bothered, or at least a little apprehensive about folks you know from everyday life reading your blog. I sure as heck keep mine as seperate from RL as possible, including not letting family & friends read it. This blog isn't my confidant, it's my escapism. Besides, I think my family would freak out if they ever found out what's the deal with me and Hinoto.^^;
Am I really supposed to be able to say anything coherant when someone at DoS message board is reminding me about Hinoto "majorly groping herself"? LMAO I joined Decisions...voting for Kiley ("Kairi" hahahha) not because he's perfect for Momo (Toji & her are just fine together ^_^) but because he's so funny I simply have to support him.^^; Everyone likes him! @_@ It's depressing. I hate liking fan-favourites. (*glomps Hinoto-hime* At least I have you to be horribly unpopular, darling #^___^#) Meanwhile I'm so relieved Miwa Ueda has a whole massive gallery devoted to photos of her cute little dog. I'm not the only bonkers one, then. *sigh of relief* The 'Peach Girl' thing? Well, back in the days of Tokyopop's Smile magazine I used to read Clover and (now ex-roomie) Saharu-chan used to steal it off me to read Peach Girl. LOL Oh! I linked Let-kun 'cause she's cool. :)
*grins* "Soap bomb" means you put it in the bath and it goes all fizzy, like an asprin. They're fun! ^_- I love Kakyou in X9 going on at Hinoto "your lies and deceit" - that was cool! They rehashed the bit with Kanoe in the last Asuka mag (*shrugs* guess that saves some work)... Waah! ;_; I was just about to go on AIM yesterday when I got dragged off to the movies ('The Quiet American' - Argustar would love it). Why am I always foiled like that? *sniffle*
Eeeeeks! Wow. I had no idea Tanith Lee had an online page. Been a fan of hers since I was a little kid (she wrote two or three episodes of 'Blakes 7', not to mention the book 'Prince on a White Horse' which I loved so dearly when I was 8). ^_^
Actually, in the 10th Kingdom, it was Virginia who sang the sheep song. The dog formerly known as Prince was changed into gold at that stage, and Wolf was unsure who he wanted to eat more - the sheep or the shepherdesses. LOL The dog-dog was gorgeous, and the guy playing the former-dog did a great job of making his tongue hang out in just the right way. And that makes everything clear, doesn't it. X3

This wallpaper is simply sublime! *and how the heart flutters* So apparently the girl who does Hinoto's voice in X TV also did Skuld in OMG! (incidently, my fave character ^_-) and KERO-CHAN in CCS. *roflmao* It's true, then. Suppi-chan and evil/Hinoto/ are one and the same! XD XD XD
Thanks for the heads up, Ko-chan. ;p "You must have been sooooo cute when you were 10" XDDDDD I found it amusing enough that Yuzu flirted with Dausuke in the manga...it's even funnier that on TV he was kinda reciprocating. *cackles* An X/ParaKiss fusion? Enrique!Kamui~?! @_@ LOL I'm not sure who would be Miwako either ( but hey; Keiichi suits pink hair. ^_~ ). Um, okay I will join you in throwing myself off a three-storey buiding. Wowzees that's good art. *impressed*
Randomly: as the global political situation is murky at the moment, to say the least, I would just like to express my relief at living in a nuclear free country. Nukes = bad.
*grins* oh, what the heck...*does dance of shiney blue ass* ;p hee hee hee hee...
RIGHT, THAT is IT, the tentacle thing has to stop!! I glanced at the card for 'Knight of Pentacles' yesterday, & for a minute thought it said Knight of Tentacles. O.o *imagines Daisuke wearing helmet & shield with the pink octopi insignia on them (alla Aoki's tie)* I blame you and you. X3
heheheheheh Did they really think that Kanoe clearly aiming for Kotori's right breast (and getting there, WOO baby! XP) was going to be sinister or something? It made me laugh. A lot. *giggles* Yeah, the death scenes in the movie seemed too "rushed" - apart from Sorata and Hinoto/Kanoe. Sora made me cry, & H/K was actually quite touching.
'Briar Rose' by Jane Yolen sounded kind of scarey, when I read the blurb one time at the main library.^^; I like most of her writing, though, so I guess that means I'll have to read it. #^__-# ...The other thing I liked about the 10th Kingdon was how they name-checked all the major fairytales (Wolf climbing up Virginia's hair and he's like "I found another grey one" ROFL). BTW, I'm counting on you to take lots and lots and lots and lots of photos of Ko-chan wearing her superglued-lapels-Keiichi-outfit. :)

I'm the lai, with no sort Of grave, solemn thought, And I Will never be caught By miseries sought, Nor sigh; Where battles are fought Or arguments brought, I fly.
...and it's purple too! AHAHAHAHA! ^_^ But hey. I retain my right to be miserable. OTOH, omigosh I found a new Hinoto shrine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's like, WAY on the TV series side of things with nary a mention of the manga, however the layout is sublimely gorgeous *drips* and total SCORE on the picture of Fluffybum (=Daisuke) looking very surly & NotKamui-ish indeed. :D through gaps in my faded memories tears that have fallen dream which creates dreams is always wounding Cooooooooooool~! And it's held at Ai no Yume - awwwwwww! #^__^#
Sounds like the birthday girl had a good party! I'm glad. ^_^ So what were you singing, just out of curiosity? *g* Oh, ok, I guess you are a second-time-through person, Lika-chan. I remember you squealing about getting the X Chara File CD, and then saying you'd only heard it once through so you weren't really distiguishing the songs yet (yeah, I do have a pretty good memory when it comes to the DoS message board, so everyone watch yourselves LOL). And you KNOW I'd love a Hinoto-doppelganger dolly. *squeak* :P It would be too cool doing the 'good' voice and then the 'wicked' voice! XD *claps*
Speakin' of birthday - MWA! ^+^ Have a good one, matey-potatey. ^_^
ali-chan, (I do get around to these things eventually ^_-) I guess the point about Tokyo Babylon is that it's so full of miscommunication and misunderstanding. All the characters, including Subby & Sei of course, have the intelligence and opportunity to make human connections, but they just don't quite get there. Even Subby with his bleeding heart routine doesn't let himself get too close, which contrasts to Seishirou's attitude of being unable to be close to anyone.
LOL! Yes it's summer. Snow at Xmas still seems to me like something that only happens in the movies. *g* Well...there's only 3.8 million people in my country. The sheep population is much bigger than human. hee hee! Oh, that place in Warkworth I probably saw as a kid, but I don't remember. Much closer is Mystery Creek in my hometown, or the Argrodome about an hour away where they have sheepdog demonstrations (dogs jumping over the sheeps' backs, etc). Hmmmm, I was already tempted by Shonen Jump in english the last time I went to Mark One (= comic shop). You may have tempted me some more. ^__^ I'm not into the bondage thing, but does it matter when it's KAREN'S BOOBSLIES!nahahaghdkfshjajk *falls over gibbering*
*goes WHEW* If you hadn't seen the 10th Kingdom, Rach, I'd have had an absolute fit. *glomps PIMP-DADDY XD* *giggles* Nani? There's a book? Nani? Tell me more? A novelisation or what? *_* Wolf is, well, I'm not really into guys but Wolf is the one exception (oh shoosh, it's not beastiality if the beast in question is sort of human, some of the time XD). He's just so hillarious! -- and he likes food (especially sheep), yes those lambs, what was it again, frolicking in the fields all fluffy and they act so innocent but they know what they're doing (heheheh, ok not a direct quote). Anyway, T10K. It was possibly the most perfect fairtale TV show ever. Apart from they had Wolf meet Virginia because he was attempting to eat her grandmother (ROFLMAO), they also had her mother as the evil Queen. Now, I'd read somewhere in Jack Zipes that most of the time it was originally your mother and NOT stepmother who was out to poison you with apples - so I was like "OMG! They got that right!" *excitement* BTW, I did see 'Don't Bet on the Prince' at ebay, whoo-hoo. That one's high on my list. ^_^
'Nother poem for Kanoe, this one by Charon:
Sing softly of her, lady of the night,
whose sweet tinted lips shall whisper the sighs
Death in thy beauty and hair of moonrise;
pain gilds the skin gleaming cream in the light
and baptize in fire the earth burning bright.
In shadows abides within woven lies,
watching the watcher with pale golden eyes,
dreamless the sleeper bereft of the Sight.
Unblemished the mask that conceals the intent
and spark of the soul in darkness will gleam
Flower and blood intoxicate thy scent
The present will die-- truth of the dream
forgotten no longer, who shall lament,
grant final this wish and hear the world's scream
*and the Castle flies black banners still*

Did anyone see The 10th Kingdom a couple of years back? "buddy you're a lamb/ gonna be a great big ram one day/ but there's wool on your face/ you big disgrace/ draggin' your tail all over the place/ singin' we will, we will SHEAR YOU!/ we will, we will SHEAR YOU!" ^_____^ It was totally cool, especially as the two lead males were some sort of canine, hee hee.
I saw a couple of good fantasy mini-series recently, 'Mists of Avalon' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk - the Real Story'. Both had great first parts, but fell down in the second parts. Of course I had to see 'Mists of Avalon' cos I'd read the book. It was a good adaptation; the little girl who played young Morgaine was fabulous, they didn't skive out of the Morgaine/Arthur stuff *claps*, and Angelica Huston was WAY sexy! *_* The second half is redeemed by keeping in Arthur/Lancelot mostly intact (whoo, shonen ai ^_-)...interestingly, Guineviere was much more sympathetic than in the book (in the book you just wanna slap her).
'Jack and the Beanstalk' had a first part which was near perfection - strange dreams of being chased by a giant, hints at a family curse, the scientist coming in with miracle seeds and rubbing Jack's hands in the dirt. I was drooling. ^_^ It was interesting to note the themes - can you even imagine being so desperate that you have to sell your only cow (and apart from the cow, you have nothing)? These days, I guess no-one with a TV would, so the theme was changed to that of the nasty global mega-corporation being the "Giant" and peoples of starving nations being "Jack" (the Everyman). Oh, and I LOVED the beanstalk!!! :D Jim Henson's company is so cool.
I should add that apart from being freaky (which is no bad thing really), the Watership Down movie was very good. The terms "weird" or "freak" or "bizarre" are generally praise coming from me. ^_~ Bigwig came off really well in the movie, but YOUCH the neck-trap. *shivers*
Kims, I'm sure CLAMP won't wuss out with Fuuma. He is the co-star, after all. *giggles*
GYEEP! I'd forgotten your birthday too! Yes, the fandom needs something to fight about...XD
I've decided to nominate Keri as my stalkee, just for amusment's sake. *wolfish grin* Unless someone else wants to try for the post? XD
Oh, and Rachel can be my pimp anytime. LOL! heheheh. It's nice to find out I have something in common with Kaho (although she's shota and I'm lolli XD...now I'll have to look up the term for an elderly-o-phile...but Clow must be much younger than Hinoto ;_;).
One more thing: I'm sure Kanoe will be having way too much fun groping angel!Kotori (I loved that bit in the movie XDDDDDD *cackles*). Semi-yumemi slash, WOOO yeah! LOL ...Seriously, the part where Kanoe tells Hinoto about wanting her to be free, and then they die together under the Diet building, was just so heartbreaking! *sniffle* It could still happen somewhat like that in the manga, as things stand at the moment. Oh! I predicted that good!Hinoto would ask Kanoe to kill her! Told y'all! *looks smug* At least CLAMP let Kanoe off a little easier than that.
And to finish with a poem (this one's Alison's haiku):
Mount Fuji came, saw
And was conquered
Twice over

We were camping at the weekend due to being at a folk festival...for some reason "folk" in this country means mostly Irish, Scottish, or other psuedo-Celtic stuff. Most of the acts were fairly amateur, but there was this hillarious Australian lady who pointed out a line in one of her songs - "I'm going to flirt with another sheep" - which is an indication of its Antipodian origins. LMAO~! I was also very charmed by this little boy who was accosting people for coins and then playing tunes on his tin whistle. He played 'In the Bleak Midwinter' for me. By far the best band was grada - hopefully I can catch them in concert again soon. ^___^ I LOVE Irish music. (now the last mention of sheep, I promise XD) Quinn-chibi had never really seen sheep close-up before, & it was very funny watching his bewildered expression when they baaaed. BTW, he's still placid and cheerful 90% of the time. It's not natural, I say! LOL
*blinks* You're STILL calling me "babe"? @_@ Even though you saw my blue shiney ass? *does the dance of blue shiney ass-ness* *giggles*
Alright youtwo, FESS UP!! what on earth did you think happened in the latest Asuka that made you so mad, and then it turned out not to happen? and yes that question made perfect sense, and I'm dying of curiosity here!
Thanks Keri.^^;;; I don't understand computers at all...EF worked perfectly on my old compy. But *sniff* Inuki M3's so multi-task and cool and *sniffsniff*... Bad boy! Sit! (he purrs when I hit the wrong button, isn't that cute? :D I wuvs my Inuki) I'd tend to agree with you on the /Hinoto/ vine-thing killing Kanoe, except that it's the Dreamscape. Dreams there have no effect in the real world - even prophetic dreams take a while to happen. I bet Arashi's the culprit. :P
Oh no!!!!! I totally forgot your birthday!!! gomen!!!!!!!!! *grabs Keiichi, feeds him sugar, throws him over to Maria* <----a happy thought from me to you ^_~
Yessssss, editor boys are funnnnnnnnn hehehehheh *slashes RL Segawa and Aoki* I can't wait to get X 11 in English. As long as they have "you're pretty too, Kamui", the rest of the translation doesn't matter. XD XD XD Um, you'd better preserve your oekaki's on a page or something, cos the are SO cute~! *loves angel hokuto* ^_^
Normally I don't mind "baaa"ing, just not at 6.30am. *chuckles* Oh, thankyou! The job is good, and Library of Congress is a better system than Dewey Decimal by far! Weeeeeee! :) Guess what? I'm a 28 personality too! *g*
*nods and waves 'Kanoe support' banners* Ok, so she made some fairly bad decisions, but was a good person nevertheless. WAY more than just a slut. That song fits perfectly, too, especially that part about "took you away from me". Beautiful! ^_^
Yup, sentimental in a nice way, and just PERFECT for Yuzu/Inuki. *sparkle* Well yeah, war is always pointless. Always. (I'm not much of a hippy either, although lentils are YUMMY! ;p)
Now, since the castle is still swathed in black briars to mourn Kanoe, we need another poem. so I'm stealing Rachel's. XD
The evening sky is but naught to your hair
Your skin is as pale as the purest cream.
No star in heaven to you can compare,
You walk into my life, as if a dream.
More precious than rubies and much more rare,
An angel upon earth is what you seem.
Comely vision, my love I must declare.
I would do anything to join your team.
O my Kanoe, my beauteous queen,
Your wisdom shines forth, a light few have seen.
Without you my heart aches, a loss so keen.
So be mine and become my own true-love!
Spread forth your wings, fly to me my fair dove,
And in taking flight we'll entwine above.
(I did vote for that one, Rach ^_-) Thursday, January 30, 2003 Daisuke-kun and Seiichirou-san already caused the breath of wind its wings would otherwise cause @ 10:25 a.m.
So on Sunday morning I woke up thinking "where in heck am I?", remembered about the tent & camping, heard some sheep and was like, "ok, back to sleep". THEN this damn sheep (must've been about 3 metres away from the tent) went "MAAAAAAAAA" really loudly, the others in the far padock replied distantly and the nearby sheep went "MAAAAAAAA" again. And again. After that the whole flock started running around for no discernable reason, so I gave up any hope of getting to sleep. LOL Hey, I'm a NZer, you have to allow me a few sheep stories. ^_- Incidently, they go "maaa" and "baaa" and sometimes "aaaaa". Not just baa.
Normally I wouldn't've dared to risk your mother's wrath. XD But I thought this time it'd be too much fun to boobie-trap your present, seeing as shimmery things rule! :D
What an incredibly addictive song! What evil have you wrought ? *checks play-count* 23!!!!!!!!!! 23 times since yesterday morning!!!!!!! Over and over is the appropriate title then. XD "over and over, over and over...." lah lah lah....
GORGEOUS! I'm so happy there's at least one tribute layout for Kanoe! *love love love*
--which leads me neatly onto:
The True Knowledge (Oscar Wilde)
Thou knowest all; I seek in vain What lands to till or sow with seed - The land is black with briar and weed, Nor cares for falling tears or rain.
Thou knowest all; I sit and wait With blinded eyes and hands that fail, Till the last lifting of the veil And the first opening of the gate.
Thou knowest all; I cannot see. I trust I shall not live in vain, I know that we shall meet again In some divine eternity.
Yes, poor Kanoe. That was a bit of a shock, & I will admit to feeling somewhat upset about it. The story is picking up pace! Does this mean the end is nigh? Hey, notice that Hinoto is still the best at agonised shrieking? ^__^ That was an awesome scream!
Ok, see you same SHEEP time, same SHEEP channel! Over and out! Tuesday, January 28, 2003 Daisuke-kun and Seiichirou-san already caused the breath of wind its wings would otherwise cause @ 08:31 a.m.
Distinguishing feature: Peculiar sense of humour =^.^=
Other Features: Likes to draw. Tendancy towards hyperness, shyness, genkiness, tardiness & procrastination. Far-reaching obsession with Saiki-dono. Looks like a Hobbit.
