Erj-baby I am such a doof. I did actually know you'd seen Whale Rider so don't ask me why I emailed you asking if you'd seen it. Must have been having one of my "blonde" moments. Dizzy, dizzy me. *lol* Soooooo, yeah the grandfather was awful to the girl, but I liked how she looked up to him no matter what. The story of the original whale rider was nicely done too. I can kind of see how people would think it funny, the warrior sticking out his tongue during the ritual...however, if they encountered that in RL they wouldn't be amused. It's a challenge - friend or foe - and it's damn intimidating (speaking from experience).

The seminar went really well (even with the talking in front of a GAH-group factor). I should point out that I hate change and I hate being challenged at anything - but even though I grumble about it things usually turn out perfectly allright. ^_^ Character-building (which means I still hate it *lol*). And YAY restricted sections!! I swear everyone'd be amazed at how much cool stuff libraries and other archives have put aside in storage away from the public. We all want to be conservationists now, and restore old book bindings & stuff.
Anyhow, while I was away I managed (despite my chronic lack of a sense-of-direction ^_~) to score a copy of the latest SFX magazine. Number one priority because it had the Buffy Nerd Trio being couch potatoe-d (there are scans of the article here. Das Trio im Geek-Test. ^_^). Annnnnnd some Tokyopop manga. Can I just say that I'm horrified that CLAMP managed to kill off poor Kaede and Ichan in just one volume. *sniffle* Now I'm unsure whether Chii/Dark Chii is twincest or what. However, Freya is dead & seems to now be an aspect of Chii's mind - hooray for you/yourself slash.^^;; Minoru and Yuzuki continue to be a very cute odd couple. *g*
LIKA, the unholy wrongness of that icon... words can not express...I...I...I think my life is now complete. *ROFLMFAO* I think I've achieved perfect harmony with the universe and can now frolic in the Big Sky Country under the stars with the buffalo and so forth. :3 *worships the icon*

Just got back from it ten minutes ago. Oh my lord, that was so cool. Like, the epitome of cool. Like a tall glass of lime soda with crushed ice - THAT cool. Cool for catsssssssss. ^___________^
Music = wonderful, perfect. Ed = loony, insane. Spike = whacky fight/chase scene, perfect! :) Faye = getting herself into trouble as usual. Jet = being the gruff mother hen. *GLOMPS Jet* Ein = cute.
Best scenes? The butterflies on Triton. The bit after Spike's near-death thing, with the wolf and the stars overhead. The dawn next day when Jet finds Spike: "so you're not dead". The climactic spaceship dogfight; it absolutely has to be seen on the big screen. You feel you're practically falling into the sky. I wanna buy my own theatre just so I can see it again on the big screen.
Favourite bit overall? (apart from Ed's pumpkin antics ^_^) Anything with the three old guys. *lmao* They so cracked me up. Especially with flying the WW2 planes and all. It was kind of strange they got to do something in the movie, cos in the TV show they never do anything. *lol* And they kind of saved the day. Awesome.
Verdict? Jolly well see it. Beg, borrow, steal, bribe, blackmail, whatever it takes. Go! However, be warned that the violence level is raised tenfold from the TV series. Lotsa bad nasty shooty gun stuff. Y'know how guns tend to kill people. Yup. And Vincent. He's the baddie's baddie. He's like the devil or something. Eeep. Not nice. Gotta love that pointy warlock hat though. ^_~

Hey, new web sis! ^_~ I cried right at the beginning of X TV when Sorata had his intro scene (polishing the floors) because he was so obviously too nice to survive. ;_; The final episode with the resolution for Arashi is a heartbreaker too. Beautiful in a way, though. Anyway. At least we have their marriage in Tsubasa, & who knows how the X manga's going to turn out? I still have hope. Hey! On the topic of X TV and wallpapers, someone should make lots of wallpapers of anime style Daisuke. He is just so adorable on TV, especially his little pug nose! *gushes*
*laughs* I love the LotR stickmen, Fumma's problem with holding the Shinken up for so long --- and take it as writ that I'm deadly jealous of your two new fluffy bundles (hope that Arwen is enjoying her new home. Dogs do need so much more attention). Mmmm, poor Mystique; I seem to remember her having at least some clothing, yet in the X2 movie she had no clothes at all!! However, I am happy to report that in The Hulk (saw it in the weekend and enjoyed it very much) the male lead has a nude scene whereas the female lead keeps all her clothes on at all times. Which makes a nice refreshing change. ^___^
To all those suffering grief and loss on account of the latest HP book, my condolances. I know how I'd feel if it were Hagrid that had died. Haven't read it yet because (a) I'm a total miser & am waiting for the paperback version XD (b) had a lot of fun on the Day of Release at good old Borders - yay - except that I managed to miss out on getting a copy of Diana Wynne Jones's latest book (can't remember the title, it was "something something Merlin", it had NICK in it from Deep Secret, Nick was GREAT) due to there only being one copy in the whole shop and someone else grabbing it before I did. *wails* So I had no heart for buying any books after that.
I must admit a certain affection for country & western music myself. ^_~ It's so sincere and there's always a story in the songs, almost like a narrative. I also really like cowboy movies (Shane is immortal) because I just love the thought of the wild frontier and there's so much freedom and riding around on horses and cool hats and stuff. Sometimes people just are different sizes - for instance I have broader shoulders than my mother. At size 16 I thought I was fat...I'm now size 14 and still think I'm fat. It's a thing that gets ingrained (mostly from school, in my case). What's also a problem is that sizes of clothes are different in other countries (I noticed this whenever I tried on Australian stuff *lol*). BTW, your brother is cute.
