I doubt I'd ever have got into an online community if it wasn't for our dear Dreams of Sakura X clubhouse. ^_~ Those S/S vs S/K squabbles I hold close in my heart, the bizarre stuff at the web-o-drama...it's all been so much fun, Alison, you're the best. ^_______^
Ohhhhhhhh heheheh, it's a cool accent. I was trying to imitate it for days after I saw O Brother Where Art Thou. Bluegrass is really wonderful music; it's impressive how they can do all the harmonies & stuff. Yes, there are a lot of Maori here. I'm 0.32% (which is from...I think my great great great Grandmother). The language is still widely used, hence even I the terminally monolingual know a few words (kumara is sweet potato, kakariki is green, etc). All the vowels are very similar to Japanese - Ah Eh Eee Or Ooo. Most Maori are deeply spiritual, and Christian, and the culture is still alive on a small scale (the wood-carvings are WICKED; incredibly detailed & all containing stories). OTOH, yes they speak English & have cell-phones, eat McDonalds, etc.
X DAY THREE! *hughughugscreamfreakout* I'm not too sure of a lot of what's going on, except for Karen vs Sora = witty banter; Karen vs Dai-kun = Daisuke running away at speed (seems to be embarrassed about Karen wearing her "work" outfit...so now I get why he made her put on his school jacket!) XD And a serious story at the end with Hinoto in the dreamscape looking worried about Dai-kun. Aw! How sweet. #^__^# I liked the PoT notepaper. *g* It's very possible that Dai-kun used to play on the Seigaku tennis team when he was 13 (all they'd need to do is drag him away from his precious cripple ^_-). Some day I'm going to have to look for a pic of this PoT character who resembles Daisuke. :p Are there any PoT sites in English?

So I finally managed to snag a copy of the Tokyopop version at Borders bookshop, & am instantly hooked. Chii is incredibly adorable despite the continual parade of fetish outfits.^^;;; I really like Hideki...he's a bit like Godai at the start of 'Maison Ikkoku'. His best friend has a Sorata haircut, hee hee. Yuki is at present my fave since she's SO much like Yuzu-chan in behaviour (i.e. really really cuuuuuuuuute and bouncy, but with serious moments too). She's short too. :D AH! I luv her!! *snuggles Yuki* I feel sorry for Minoru. The poor boy! (it's so funny -- he looks like Eriol-kun XD). I thought Plum would be annoying, but she's kinda sweet & pocket-sized. ^_- The cram school teacher is WAY cool. Um, the story...is different than I thought it would be. It's weird because all the themes are coming through loud & clear, except that it's not really obvious yet how those themes relate to the characters. Ok, Yuki feels inadequate compared to computer-girl, that makes sense. But what about all this "computers are different from people/they can never become people/they are only a substitute" stuff? I'm wondering because the main character has a lot of friends (only ONE of whom is a persocom), and most of the others seem to prefer the company of real people (even Minoru). Yeah, well, I'm probably too early into the story to find out any of this stuff yet. Of course I'm dying to know who the mysterious guy is that "would have wanted" Chii to have someone just for her...Black Chii is so cool~! And their descision; ok, as a guess they're going to destroy all persocoms for the good of humanity? *just a guess* The picture book 'City With No People' scared me so much I had to sleep with the lights on. *shudders* Of course it doesn't help that the very-obviously-relating-to-Chii character looks like a freaky mutant bunny with giant eyes. Eeeeeeeyaaaaaah! *shivers* "There is another me" eeeeeeee, scarey, scarey. Of course, bonus points for the Black Chii fondling Chii scenes. HEHheheh. I should really stop wishing that was Hinoto & /Hinoto/.^^;;;
...which reminds me, I'm supposed to hurt you. Ha ha. ^_~ If it makes you feel any better, Nayami, I think it's cool that Sora is keeping an eye on /Hinoto/ and even if she does try something I doubt it'll have any more effect than all of her previous attempts (fate is fixed, the only one who might be able to change it is Kamui). No, I think the only one now who can really do any serious damage to Sora-chan is Arashi. For which she has her reasons.

The new fancy LotR DVD set has apparently got a whole lot more cut scenes restored to it (the only one I know of is the Elves giving the Fellowship their green cloaks & stuff). ^_^ I haven't seen 'Smallville' in ages, but it's for sure one of the few shows worth watching on TV at the moment. Lex is groovy. Hee, your hubby likes 'Enterprise'? I totally missed all of it, (waaaaaaaah ;_;) and my ex-roomies (J-chan + Sophie) were raving about it which is a rare event indeed. I saw a rat climbing in the rosebush again, the other night. They are soooooo cute, all silver-grey & with pale stomachs. ^___^ Long tails seem to help them climb.
We also went to see Quinn-chibi, & as usual drove past the part of the river where the taniwha lives. I can't really explain what a taniwha is, except to say that it's tapu (forbidden/sacred)...BBC descibed it as a "Maori Swamp Monster" (that's very impolite^^;;;). Roadworks are still held up because the local Maori people are concerned about redevelopments in that area near the taniwha. It's all turning out a bit like something from Neil Gaiman's American Gods -- I didn't expect to find such a parallel so close to home, but yes, the Maori feel usurped and the Old gods here have definitely been usurped. I like the Old gods, & I do believe the forests and oceans should be respected (should ask permission before cutting down a tree, etc).
Anyway, Quinn is doing great. Now that he's 8 months old, they're encouraging him to self-feed when he has solids. *chuckles* He kind of, uh, misses his mouth with the spoon & feeds his cheek instead. Or just chews on the handle of the spoon. He's still very chirpy & smiley, making lots of informative statements such as "Nyi anh anh" and "baa". LOL I add the usual disclaimer that babies are evil and should be abolished. ^_~

XD Oooo, what was the fic you got a prize for at Newtype USA? *curious* Dad and I watched 'O Brother Where Art Thou' last year on video and absolutely LOVED it. The accents were quite astonishing (*giggles* "We Thah-owt you Wah-ows a TAowd"), and the songs are wonderful, especially I am I man of constant sorrow. I bought Dad the soundtrack CD for his birthday. ^__^ Coen brothers ROCK!! Um, and the documentary 'Down From the Mountain' of all that music (in concert, featuring the artists who recorded on the movie soundtrack) was on this year's international film festival at Rialto cinemas. Very interesting, and the black singers had the most incredibly deep voices I have ever heard!!

Last night I had a dream about you and you! We were sitting in my parent's lounge, and Keri showed me this photo I wanted (it was of an old white house) but said that she was going to give it to Kira. Then we were on a bus going past a whole bunch of houses by the river which were covered in pond-weed. I forgot to mention that when we were out at the beach, throwing ourselves up cliffs, we saw lots of rabbits there. They were so cute!! Possibly I'm getting over my 'Watership Down'-induced childhood trauma (you and you will be pleased to note that I'm considering reading the book again...I think if I skip that one particular chapter I'll be okay^^). I see a few out at Matamata (AKA Hobbiton) whenever I take the bus to work, but never so many as the hoards out by the ocean! I should feel guilty liking them, I suppose, as they're a terrible environmental pest.
Newsflash just to hand; there is a worldwide shortage of little Japanese boys in short-shorts due to Rachel kidnapping them all and handing them over to her crazed fangirl friends. XDDD Well, you'd never guess it, Rach -- yesterday I saw a huge busload of 16-17 year old Japanese schoolboys wearing the exact freaking style of uniform that Dai-kun had!!! I swear! That sort of square-cut with the high collar and big buttons. LMAO We were haring down the motorway, and Dad was like "What are you cackling about?" -O-O-;;; I wish we could've stopped for me to take a photo. I hope this means that Dawn will stop being whiney - it was such a shame they made her that way, cos when she was younger she was sooooo adorable. For once, Xander got to save the day. I think that was the best thing of all.

Uh-huh, my first dog was like my best friend (Mambo, the sensible one and my only darling) and my second dog (Merlie, AKA Merlyn AKA the Honey, completely mollycoddled and a bishie to boot - everyone used to mistake him for a girl...I can't even begin to describe how depressing it is to have a boy of a different species who is prettier than oneself LMAO) was my baby. Although he thought not; to Merlie I was just bossy/flakey big sister and NOT his mother!
