"Saving the world is endlessly important. But saving a butterfly, or a tree, or any single life is infinitely so."
Castle of Briars
What if the butterfly was supposed to flap its wings tommorow --
This layout features kazetsukai from CLAMP's X manga (the blustery one and the breezy one). The 'butterfly wings' theory is about cause & effect. All quotes are from Brad Schmidt's fanfic "Butterflies" featured in TSV #55 (Oct '98). And yes, I drew that pic^^;;;
We're all butterflies...
online family: Lika-darling (padawan) >> Under Thlayli's Thrall Sats-chan (roomie) >> Pointless Kimmie (imouto-chan) >> Star scream Clamp Girl (mysterious little sister who pops up out of nowhere with a whole set of memories of your life together except that you're almost sure they're not real - or are they? ^_~) >> Kiseki Genki Hokuto-chan (daughter) >> Figment of Your Imagination Keri (stalkee) >> Space Between
I bought a Buffy season four DVD box set yesterday, purely for the audio commentary on 'Superstar', and boy was I not disappointed! :D Apparently, it wasn't Danny Strong (Jonathan actor guy) who sings in the episode. It was, wait for it, the same guy who did Aladdin's singing voice~! Who is in fact the guy who played Tucker (demon dogs at the prom guy AKA Andrew's brother ^_~). So! Not only is Jonathan sort of Andrew's brother (but only when he's singing XD), not only did he star in the Matrix without leaving Sunnydale (oh wait, that bit wasn't real), but he also was the singing voice for Aladdin (for real).
How cool is that? Super-Jonathan rules. *worships* ;P
Now, leaving Jonathan-land (Xander: "NO! World without sushine!"--etc), this was very well done, oh Jewel of my Existence. You gave a calm and thoughtful reply which is more than that girl deserved (most of us would've told her where to get off). More power to you! *huggles* ^__^

Haven't been able to get online on account of fever, plague, sickness, etc. But, all better now! *jumps up and immediately flops* Well, okay, still recovering. ^^;; I feel better now - now to regain my (gen)ki!...
I finally caught an episode of Angel last night, the ballet one where Gunn and Fred kiss for the first time. Awwwwwww!! Cuuuuuuuuute!! Fred is adorable, I'd love a Chobit version of her as my very own (or somethin'). And hey, she's like an ex-librarian and stuff too!! hee hee
Broom dancing is a curative. Yup. True. ^_~

So, I was reading this book about Batman ('Batman Unmasked' by Will Brooker) which had just about every unique perspective on the B-man you could imagine. And it also said a lot of interesting things about multi-level readings and authorship. I like the view that if you want to see Batman as gay it's valid, or if you want to see him as a demonic creature of the night that's equally valid. It also reminded me of various Doctor Who articles I've read, and the old familiar anecdote about watching the show "behind the sofa". Let me say, I never ever watched Doctor Who behind the sofa. I was always literally on the edge of my seat just about ready to dive into the TV screen. It wasn't scarey: it was exciting, it was escapism. I don't understand the "behind the sofa" thing. Nor do I understand the "indefinable sense of magic" thing (it's escapism dears, just one word, not that hard to say. Escapism with a blue police box that travels through time & space ^_^). Or to put it another way, I don't agree with the way those people have viewed Doctor Who...just as none of the depictions of Batman put forward in Will Brooker's book were anything like the Batman I see. However, they're all valid, and it's good to know there are factions within fandoms that allow every different type of reading to be supported.
I pause here to point three things out (mainly for my own edification ^_-): first is Lika's fangirlism thread which shows a lot of traits belonging to fans of the female gender (& it's just darn fun), second is this neat essay by Lisa Richards which is specifically about one fandom (Buffy), and third is the best analysis of Buffy's 'Storyteller' episode I have ever read.
And now for some social stuff ^_^...
Maria's back! WHOO-HOO! *glomps and goes into "neverleaveagainneverleaveagain" mode*
*laughs at C.G's genki antics* Hey, we really are sisters! :P I changed your link. *points left* So you did get Keiichi's bed? Awesome. ^__^
I can live with that image!! :)
...um...when are we picking the ring? heh heh (D W-J is still kicking Harry's butt too...who would win in a fight with Snape vs Chrestomanci. I'm thinking Snape cos Chrestomanci's a tad wussy & upper-crust. Go for a left-hook, Snapey! XD) A Jonathan/Andrew sandwich including me would lead to many bad things: including all-night Robotech video marathons, stupid jokes about how Voyager is a cure for insomnia (no, they'd probably lynch me for that one^^;;;), and playing with flashlights pretending they're light-sabres. Oh! Plus the requisite Mulder impressions (wear a white shirt with a yucky tie, get into a dark cupboard with a torch, start mumbling about aliens). Oh yeah. I'm hard-core. XD On the geek topic, I've seen so many TV shows where the nerd girl takes of her glasses, lets down her hair, and BINGO she's gorgeous. What a crock. <_<; Of course, as soon as she looks good she's socially acceptable. SUPER-crock. <_<;; Warren was actually quite a nice guy -- it was the sex-bots and stuff that give me the "ick" factor. He was almost too "human" ( I still can't think of him as a "villian"). Okay, now I definitely want to see X Handpuppet Theatre do a version of 'Being Hinoto-hime' (in the vein of 'Being John Malchovich'). What a riot! LOL
I can't believe that pic either! CLAMP does love their incest...^^ I'm also way too amused by "EriolxSyaoran would be SeishirouxDaisuke", so I'll stop now.

Okay, so now I find out that the Jonathan episode is actually called 'Superstar'. Buffy unfortunately is the victim of the same disease as the X-Files, i.e. they never put titles on the beginning of the episodes, despite plastering it with the actor credits. Grrrr, arrrgh. It's very annoying, as I can never figure out which episode people mean if they only mention the title. At least the X-Files has some obvious episodes like 'Fire', but otherwise... *waves little paper monster around menacingly*
Anyhow, a big welcome to Clamp Girl~! :D I hope you have fun in blogland, dear. She's one of our DoS MB associates, which makes me very happy ("furthering plans for DoS to take over the world since November 2000" XD). C.G. I wanna get the north and South side artbooks too *sniff* and there are no colour pics of Keiichi or Daisuke outside of fanart or doujinshi *sniff sniff* (ever heard of the X Day doujinshi? heheheh >:-3).
Rach, (did I mention I love that layout? *lmao* It's brilliant....) I'm mainly interested in the fact that you adore Syaoran and I adore Daisuke and the inherant "deeper meanings" of this. Apart from, y'know, our superior taste, talent, good looks... ;P Well, okay, it's that Li and Saiki have very similar personalites and fulfill the same sort of roles in their respective series. (Actually, it's probably just the fact we like to torture them and make them blush. *snik*) The one who makes me laugh most in CCS is Yamazaki, the little nutball, especially when Syaoran is staring at him & starting to believe what he says. *lol* Oh! Eriol/Syaoran is a good thing, yes. As is Sorata/Daisuke. ^_- Agreed about the popularity of X in Japan...I'm sort of more thinking that it's CLAMP's long-running series & what will they fall back on once it's over? (I don't think Lawful Drug will fill the gap). So maybe Tsubasa and XXXholic are trying to entice people to get into finished CLAMP series in the meantime...?
Now, you!!! *GLOMPS* If I ever got asked the desert island question of the top five things I would take...well, it's pretty much guaranteed that you'd be somewhere on the list. :) Oh feel the <3 Andrew luv <3 <3...*claps hands* I mostly liked him at first because he was the "Classic Geek" (and he knew what Red Dwarf was...aaaaaa, kudos to the Buffy writers *fans self rapidly*), but screwed-up Andrew is fun too. I've been trawling Buffy sites lately, and was heartily relieved to find out that the actor who plays Jonathan is one year older than me, the one who plays Andrew is one year younger, and the one who plays Warren is the baby of the three as he's turning 25 shortly. (----> dun like Warren, he's icky-icky-gross, but the Trio, the TRIO!!!!! *cheers* The three together just work so well) As in, these are geeks of MY age-group. Oh, so happy! *_* I've seen so many teenage characters on TV who are supposed "geeks" (& they usually grow up to be tall & gorgeous & popular <---- grrr arrrg) - it's so nice to see some truely geeky fanboys who continue to be sad and pathetic (j/k ^-~) into their twenties. And short, in Jonathan's case. Rules very much, ja ja. *nods* I'm so sorry you missed 'Storyteller'~! The "we are as gods" bit...the "let's turn Buffy magnetic and then she won't be able to get out of her car" bit. ;_; *commiserates* And yeah, that's the episode with the videocamera. My worst time missing an ep was with 'Bandcandy'. I mean, Giles did Buffy's Mom and I missed it~! o.O (thank goodness for the DVD box-sets, hmmmm ^_^). TheactorwhoplaysJonathanisgoingtobeatToronto'sComicon~! Aa Megisama! o!mg! @_@ You mean you'd get his autograph for me? *_* Happy happy joy joy, yes please! I...I ...*falls over in excitement* I can't even think of any message at the moment apart from "blither" or "waiiiiiiiii". Maybe you can think of one for me. :) As for Hinoto-hime, we have crossed so many lines of good taste and decency it warms the cockles of my heart. XD I think in the world of CLAMP, you/yourself is counted as a slashable canonical coupling (just look at Chii/Black Chii). *lol* I guess anything same-sex is official in CLAMP. heh heh heh
Okay, on that perverse note *giggles* I gotta get my a into g. Bye bye all! ^____^

Yuppers, just saw the "Oh, Andrew" (okay, "Storyteller" ^_-) episode of Buffy. All I have to say is: he was trying to slash Spike and Principal Wood!!! I love this boy!!!! *roflmaofdsgthcibml* XD I'm sure I had something intelligent to say, but ha ha ha ha ha "we are as gods, we are as gods" XD XD XD *harumph* Anyhoo, it turns out there's a lot of complex character stuff going on there which I haven't figured out yet (the "tears" bit was nice). Buffy you defeat me again.
All in all, GREAT episode, of course not as funny as "Oh, Jonathan!" (nothing can beat Giles going to his drawer and getting out a swimsuit calendar of Jonathan, NOTHING). And I feel a sudden strong urge to watch "Oh, Jonathan!" for the fourth or fifth time. *has lost track* XD
Blood red?! They were supposed to be chocolate scented, I thought! *laughs* omigosh that is classic! LOL! :D
*kissu kissu* Hinoto's such a hentai paedophile. No wonder she kept her "childlike" body, as she likes to molest herself. *rofl* GAK! It gets more and more disturbing when thinking about it. *g*
Okay, more sense will return once I'm out of the thrall of the blond geek and had a chance to dig out my tape of "Oh, Jonathan!".
...everybody say it loud: "OH, JONATHAN!" ^o^ Wednesday, June 11, 2003 Daisuke-kun and Seiichirou-san already caused the breath of wind its wings would otherwise cause @ 10:43 p.m.
I've been thinking that "Sparkle" would be a great online name, if it weren't so dorky. Hmmm...ok, so dorky would work for me. *lol* Actually, it also reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer sees that "Mr Sparkle" logo which looks like him, & it turns out to be a fish-bulb. XD There was that mad advert spoofing Japanese TV, which cracked up Saharu-chan during the episode (Saharu's my Osakan ex-roomie, currently back in Osaka...well fancy that. ^_~). Saharu-chan was always a good sport. J-chan used to tease her about eating whale meat all the time, & she would just laugh. Ah! And she bought me Sailor Moon stuff quite often, so of course I planned to marry her. *hee hee hee* :D
Um, anyway...
Oh! Nope, no emails for me lately. I'm glad the guidebook got there safely - if nothing else, I figured you could use it as artistic reference. ^_^ 'Castle Waiting' is neat, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Rackham bird. Heheheh I'm curious to see the father of Pindar too - he's gotta be green. *g* Oh....yes....Beasty-boy did get a cameo in X 2 in his cute little "human" disguise, that's quite right. But I like him better all fluffy & blue. ^_~
*giggles at Ko's new layout* Aw, lookit the little spirit hamster!!!!!!!! Kah-yuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! And the little hamster with a ball in it's mouth! Awwwwwwwwwwww!
You're probably the only human in my zoo, er *coughcough* harem. *lmao* There's at least one Elf, and I'm not sure that Hinoto counts as human either now that you point it out. *laughs*
I admit I am very bad, Rach, as a CCS addict I don't care as long as CCS characters are in the mix (and, it seems, Tomoyo-chan! *celebrates wildly*). But I know what you mean about CLAMP stealking from themselves - it's just crazy!! @_@ Is it some kind of "ratings war" I wonder, to cover themselves when X finally finishes? Or, they've been at the special crack.^_^;;;;; (I thought an official colour pic of Eyeball-san was the limit, & yet again they manage to debase themselves even more XD). Regarding Syaoran, at first I didn't really like him, but he grew on me until of course I was rooting for him to snag Sakura (even though my preference is for Tomoyo/Sakura ^_-). He would probably be my fave if only he made me laugh more & got his head chopped off, but unfortunately in the circumstances Daisuke Saiki is it. XD BTW, thanks for sharing the photos as always. ^_^
Hey!!! speaking of the official Eyeball-san colour illustration, please tell me you've seen it!!!!
And on that note, I must leave. ^_^ I'm going to bed with Batman. (no, really ^_~) *lol*

Something I meant to do aaaaaaaaaages ago: the all-purpose, super-shiney character defence a-go-go thingie (...which looks better; "thingee" or "thingie"? More questions for the Ages ;P).
First up, Percy Weasley. Percy, Percy, Percy. *shakes head sadly* You pompous git! But aside from that he has a miriad other great qualities which are either over-looked or ridiculed (especially by the twins). Perce looks after Ginny in book two, & is Head Boy in book three. He's a lot more caring than he's willing to let on ...ok, so the thing with Penelope was hysterical, I laughed & laughed, but it still shows that there's more to him than "I Am A Prefect So Obey Me" Boy. Not that we don't love "The Prefects Are Supreme and All-Powerful" Boy, oh yes we do. ^_- Perce is fabulous; his "manic worker" mode is more scarey than even (YnM) Tatsumi's! *lol* Again, he's the hard worker who never gets any credit. Mr Crouch's reffering to him as "Weatherby" is almost painful (if it weren't so funny). As the middle child, Perce doesn't have the pressure to do better than his brothers that Ron has, & seems to just get on with the job never minding the fact no-one notices this apart from his Mum and his sister.
Whoops!! that was long! Shorter one for Hinoto: she's like a cornered rat (cornered by whom? by DESTINY of course ^_^). And what does a cornered rat do? It turns and fights. There's something very desperate about her fragile/powerful situation - surely only someone truely in pain could behave as she has done?
Okies, time to be social:
Yeah, it was a scarey dream! But I've had no more nightmares since then. There was this dream about (my ex-roomie) Sophie as a little kid; she and a bunch of other kids ran through this big white bubble-door that kept changing shape & behind it was a kind of spaceship thing.^^ So, hnm, I don't usually try to decipher my dreams - LOVE the suggestion "lack of control", that's probably hit the nail on the head. ^_^ Will you be my analyst, Lika-chan? >;-P *g* *collects hugs & smootches shamelessly* Naturally I went to see X 2 only 'cause you said to. With Nightcrawler and other fringe benefits *grabs more hugs* it's all good. ^_~ Are we excited about X 3? YES WE ARE! :D Here's hoping for Beast and Gambit and maybe Jubilee (luv her funky red goggles). Ha Ha! You probably will end up getting a badge for the Secret Society of Broom-Closeters. Kanoe can be honourary president of it. I'm not sure about giving membership numbers, as that's kind of Totalitarian (& maybe we're Seperatist broom-closeters? XD).
Sats, thanks for the links of Alan Cummings in his very fetching kilt. *twirls* I owe you big gigantic huge MB post. ^___^
Alison-sama, it sounds to me like the usual excuses people come up with to get rid of large stray populations of unwanted animals. In NZ, it's that way with horses, goats, pigs, cats, stoats, and so on and so on and so on. If only those in charge would just say "we're killing them 'cause we don't want them around" instead of being hypocritical. BTW, "Agent Smith", cold as steel, tough as a rock - I knew there was a reason we loved you. ^_~ And, Arwen is just darling!!!! It's awesome she has your name. *g* I'm either "Tintinalle" meaning sparkle - cute ^_^ - (from Amaryllis, Mum's pet name for me), or "Cotume" meaning enemy - not cute^^ - (from Emily, the French version of my name).
Gah! Is late! Gotta hit the hay! zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Okay, I am never going to read my book on fairies before bed ever again. Did I need to know about ancient Greek child-killing demons that were stillborn ...and ...eeeek? ;_; I don't think so. GAH! So yeah, it gave me nightmares - in particular this one about a werewolf (prob'ly cos I was looking up Sirius/Remus fanart last night - at least I think so as the wolf guy had a boyfriend XD). Memorable "eating people" scene (but "off-screen" which is kinda worse) and then they were looking for the guy when it turns out they're on the MOON~! Yep, you could see the Earth as a shining blue sphere above, and then it's like "WAAH no gravity". But you know the whole connection with werewolves & the Moon, so it was like "what happens if there's a wolf on the Moon?" (conscious brain goes: yes, I'd like to know the answer to that, unconscious brain goes: no gravity = scarey!!!).
...why can't I just have sex dreams or something? *sniffle*

Dad just pointed out something in this big ol' history book he got out from the library (my library, that is). There's a little map showing where Shakespeare had lodgings in the year 1540, and one of the roads nearby is named "Muggle Street". *g* Now, what we're wondering is, did J.K. Rowlings know about this already? *hee hee* I have half a mind to take a photocopy of that page and mail it to her "care of" address with nothing but the street name highlighted and a big grinning smiley face. :P

1. CLAMP are doing an official AU C.C.S. story! (thankyou so much for the scans, Rach ^_____^) Syaoran looks a lot more at ease in his own series - actually, the whole thing looks good so far. Please please please let Tomoyo turn up, even if it's just a cameo. This is too good to be true!!!! *sparkles*
2. I have a blushing bride XD. *rubs hands with glee* So I get to add Kelsey to my select list of betrothed (alright, so the list includes androids, dog-shaped computers, persons of canine persuasion *waves to Wolf*, cryptic gimps with glowing third-eye-thingees -- it's still a very select list!! *lol*) Kels, I loved your suggestion of Kamui & Daisuke as great friends. Can just see it now: " So now do you believe I am Kamui?" "Yes, but you still SUCK!" hehehehheh
3. I had a whole bunch of responses to my online survey! Thanks, guys, I read them all & feedback is guaranteed soon. :D
4. My cutest refferal, Moomintroll Butterflies got topped by "mooncake pics". XD That's really cute (...unless it's some sort of kinky thing I didn't know about ...*SWEATDROP*).

My #1 result for the SelectSmart.com selector, X CLAMP Characters Quiz, is Keiichi Segawa - Kamui's classmate (undetermined)
Okay, that was first and
My #20 result for the SelectSmart.com selector, X CLAMP Characters Quiz, is Daisuke Saiki - Hinoto's guardian, (undetermined)
that was last! @_@ I'm freaked! What gives, boys? First selector which had non-dragons, first try, no cheating. This is getting weird! (for future reference - 2nd & 3rd were Kusanagi and Yuuto, XD. 4th & 5th were Hokuto and Kanoe, XD XD. Yuzuriha was 6th, Aoki was 8th, Hinoto was 14th).
2. I forgot Satsy's birthday (I'm forgetting everybody's birthdays this year *sigh*). In any case, I hope you had lots of good food. It'd be great to send you Nightcrawler bursting out of a giant cake with special birthday greetings, but he's damn difficult to get a hold of (it's that vanishing through walls in a puff of smoke thing which is the main problem ^_-). In the meantime, GIANT GLOMPS from my humble self + a bad karaoke version of 'happy birthday' (probably with Bob the Builder theme-song thrown in for good measure) will have to suffice. You're one in a million, Sats. ^____^
3. How could I not put Quinton, madman-- er, "wizard extraordinaire" at the top of male characters I would marry, bath-plug searching inclusive? He is most definitely number one *throws the Prisoner away, with the sound of "dems bones, dem bones, dem dry bones" fading into the distance* (eee, that was a bad pun and in-joke nobody'll get ^_^ Better get to raving about Quinton). That wizard is hillarious, OTT, frustrating, bewildering, he once spent 200 years being reminded by a sea-serpent of something & still never remembered it, he has that trick of seeming to know everything and yet being completely clueless at the same time, he is indeed asexual; oh everybody should just read 'Thieves and Kings', it's fantastic. ...Further to this, how could I put Sapphire first when Hinoto will always be number one?! *cuddles Hime-sama* I'm sowwy. You have whacky sound-effects too, and a third eye which glows red and goes "wib wib". Of course I love you the most. ^______^
